What’s that barbed fitting for?

Just noticed on my Yamaha AR190 that both oil return lines have a barbed connector halfway down. Anyone know if it has other functions aside from linking the lines? Appreciate any thoughts!

Far as i know, the connectors were mainly there to make it easier to disconnect the hoses when removing the engines. Unfortunately, they didnt do the same for the return fuel lines, if you cut those, youll need to provide your own connectors

yeah, it could be for ease of manufacturing/assembly, allowing for different hose materials for specific sections, or to facilitate disassembly for maintenance (making it easier to remove specific engine components without cutting a long hose)

Those mid-line barbed connectors aren't doing anything special, they're just basic joiners from factory assembly.

Some people overthink them, but unless you're seeing leaks, they're purely structural, not functional beyond connecting the hoses.
