Hello all, name is Cole, and I have a 2014 Yamaha AR192 Supercharged SHO. This spring I put on a new/used take off upgraded SVHO intercooler, and replaced the impeller and impeller housing. Since I have had it on the water, which has been since end of May( I park it on a lift), I have been having what seems to be supercharger clutch issues, but am not 100% sure. Which brings me to here. I am having the classic signs of the clutch failing, other than the supercharger fins only spin one direction. I will take off, sometimes a little harder than other times, but sometimes this happens even when I ease into the throttle, I will max out at 5300 RPMS. If I back off the throttle, and try again, it may work great, and can reach 7300-7500 RPMS no problem. I have checked hoses probably 15 times, and everything is on, and tight. Most recently, I thought I would check plugs, even though I changed them this spring, thinking maybe some fogging oil was still in there from winter. I only found one plug, that looked a little dirty. Replaced that, and it seemed the boat was better for a bit, but let it sit overnight, and it did the same thing, but only within the first 5 minutes of running. Then it worked great after that.
I've noticed when it does max out at 5300rpm, if I slow down and coast at around 1500-2000rpms, I don't hear the supercharger, but then all of a sudden, it engages, and I can hear it again...
Is this a classic sign that the clutch is failing, or could this be something totally different? Not sure why it would act up within 5 minutes of running, but after a bit, its just fine.
I also did test the boat with the old intercooler back on, but it still acted up.
I did order a new clutch kit, but was hoping I didn't have to change it on the water, but will if I have to.
The boat has 225 hours on it, fairly small lake I run on, so not choppy, and jet is always in the water, no big waves.
